Preston Coghill’s creative journey is one deeply rooted in intention, passion, and community. As a traveling chef, floral designer, and theater director, Coghill brings a multi-dimensional approach to storytelling—one where every plate, petal, and performance is crafted with purpose.

His foray into catering and floral arranging wasn’t a career shift—it was a calling. “With every moment we are given, we have to be intentional,” he often says. That belief shows up in everything he does, from vibrant floral installations that transform rooms to beautifully plated meals that nourish both body and soul. His work reflects not just aesthetics, but emotion.

Preston’s floral designs are theatrical in their own right—lush, dramatic, and rich with color and texture. They’re more than decor; they’re experiences. It’s no surprise that many of his most fulfilling projects are ones that blend all his talents. Weddings, community events, and productions that require an artistic eye and a curator’s touch are where he thrives. These are the moments where flowers and food become part of the narrative, elevating events into something memorable and heartfelt.

In addition to his visual artistry, Coghill has made a lasting impact in North Carolina’s theater scene. As the founder of A Place in the Heart Theatricals, Inc., a nonprofit based in Greenville, NC, he has written and directed productions that reflect the culture, challenges, and triumphs of the community. One of his standout works, OldTimers the Musical, takes on the topic of Alzheimer’s and dementia with grace, humor, and gospel-inspired music. The production provides a window into the world of memory care, offering comfort and connection to those affected while honoring caregivers through laughter, music, and love.

These community-driven productions often go beyond the stage. During one holiday season, Preston joined in joyful caroling on hayrides in Ayden, NC, to promote an upcoming show. It’s that kind of heart-led involvement that defines his work—immersive, celebratory, and rooted in service.

Now, Preston is stepping into a bold new chapter with the launch of The Orpheum of Oxford—a restored 1920s Art Deco theater in Oxford, North Carolina. More than a venue, The Orpheum is a full-circle vision: a space where his culinary, floral, and theatrical talents will converge under one historic roof. The venue will host weddings, galas, performances, and cultural showcases, all infused with Coghill’s signature blend of elegance and intention.

Being back in North Carolina has deepened his connection to the work. It allows him to give back to the very communities that nurtured him. His Southern roots show up in his hospitality, his storytelling, and the way he crafts each experience with love and legacy in mind.
